Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Chief of Staff in the day-to-day management and oversight of the Office of the Executive Secretary, with particular focus on programme support areas.
Reviews and monitors support services and undertake analysis on key administrative and operational areas as necessary.
Develops, implements and evaluates assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions.
Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
Provides advice to the Chief of Staff on a wide range of administrative and management issues related to enhancing ECA’s brand, promoting a healthy workplace culture, ensuring accountability and improving operational effectiveness.
Prepares aide memoirs, memoranda and other substantive documents of a broad and complex nature, in coordination with Divisions to support the Office of the Executive Secretary at meetings, on missions and as required.
Coordinates policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies.
Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, finance, accounting, law, or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.
Experience:
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
2 years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Experience in administration, finance, accounting, human resources management or related field is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.
For the position advertised, fluency in English or French is required; knowledge of the other is desirable.
Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
