Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing liaison services and technical support to the relevant host government entity.

Supporting the host government entity to prepare meetings, workplans etc., and provide secretarial support as may be required and attend meetings as designated.

Supporting the host government entity to coordinate One Health within the environment sector e.g. ministries authorities, parastatals etc.

Prepare a consultative (involving stakeholders) and implement an approved annual workflow program.

Undertaking stakeholder analyses, prepare engagement plans, and maintain active up to date database of all stakeholders at various levels of government including tracking their inputs and follow up actions, etc.

Assess and ascertain the understanding, barriers, challenges etc. of One Health by the stakeholders who include National Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies/Parastatals, County Governments, Grassroot Communities, NGOs amongst others.

Preparing technical inputs (e.g. policy briefs, reports) to facilitate stakeholder engagement on and mainstreaming of the environmental dimensions of One Health.

Providing liaison services on one health between the environment and other sectors.

Organizing and facilitating meetings, trainings, workshops, seminars etc. including preparing meeting/workshop documents and presentations, maintaining records of the meetings, and ensuring follow up to action points agreed on during the meetings, etc.

Monitoring the implementation of environmental dimensions of One Health in other sectors and documenting lessons learned, case studies, and best practices, etc.

Collecting and analyzing data on environmental dimensions of One Health.

Conducting desk studies, surveys, and limited field research on environmental dimensions of One Health.

Develop and maintain a basic database of projects, partners, policies, minutes of meetings etc.

Keep track of requests from and inputs to partners and other stakeholders, and prepare responses as appropriate, etc.

Assist in preparing concept notes, project proposals, programme documents, etc. for resource mobilization.

Review documents and provide comments as required.

Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Education:

Master degree or equivalent in environment, ecosystem health, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry or other closely related sector is required.

Experience:

3 years of experience in working with multisectoral teams in the fields of ecosystem health, microbiology, and natural resource management.

Practical experience in data collection, data analysis, report writing and presentation of results.

Demonstrated experience working with different levels of experts, government officials, and local and international NGOs, etc.

Demonstrated experience on multisectoral stakeholder consultation and engagement with local communities, capacity building; networking and knowledge management including communication with different audiences.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience (after graduation) relevant to policy analysis, environmental law, environment management.

Demonstrated experience working in the fields of ecosystem/environment health, environment management and natural resource management.

Practical experience in data collection, data analysis, report writing and presentation of results.

Demonstrated experience working on environment management with different levels of experts, government officials, and local and international NGOs, etc.

Demonstrated experience in undertaking multisectoral stakeholder consultation and engagement with local communities, capacity building; networking and knowledge management including communication with different audiences.

Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.

Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.

Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.

Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.

Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.

Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.

Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4×4 over rough terrain.

Sound security awareness.
